Dad decided that we should take a drive up cottonwood canyon to see how close we could get to the fire. We first made a pit stop when he spotted a bull snake in the road. Of course we had to get out and snap a picture. It was quite long. We drove up onto big east, as far as you can go. It took us about an hour to get there. Once there we got out and watched the fire as it ate through huntington canyon. Nuckwood ward, Stewart ranger station and gentry were all on fire. My dad was just waiting for the fire to jump the ridge in front of us. He so badly wanted to be closer to all the action. In the last picture you can see some of the flames. Which tells you they must be a hundred feet in the air, because I could get a picture. We used the binoculars to watch as it spread through all the dead timber. It is quite the sight to behold. Sara will be disappointed, I know she wanted to hike Nuckwood ward next year. It will be a really black and ugly hike now. My dad and I will keep you posted from the front lines( he wishes).
