Whitney's Letters

We received 4 letters from Whitney today, 1 e mail and 3 letters. Her classes start at 6:55 am and she stays busy until 8:45 at night. She loves her companion, Sister Pahulu from Florida. As you can tell from the name she is of Tongan descent. Whitney says she has to pray in Spanish and they also had to bear their testimonies in Spanish to the class. She has heard that the foursquare games during gym class are vicious(broken noses, stictches, pulled shoulders, etc.......) The general authority visitor on Christmas Day was L. Tom Perry, She said it was wonderful but after he left there wasn't a lot to do. She thanks everyone that has written to her and Sara for the package. Please keep those cards and letters coming. She's doing great!

Last Post

This is my last post for awhile. I was set apart as a full-time missionary at 7:30. President Sharp gave me a wonderful blessing. Many things were promised to me. I am overwhelmed. I know that this is the right thing for me to do. People are waiting for me. I am not scared, and I am not feeling any anxiety. President Sharp asked one of my sisters to volunteer to be my companion at the moment it is Banner. She is watching me to make sure I don't do anything but communicate with my family. I love everyone, I look forward to arriving at the MTC. I know that I will be okay, and I have been promised that my family will be protected. Best of luck and Merry Christmas.

My Farewell

Today was a really nice day. It was kinda cold but nice. Everyone was here this morning to hear my talk. I didn't realize that I could talk for so long. The meeting ran over by 5 minutes, and I even cut out a chunk of my talk. My friends came over after for lunch. I really enjoyed visiting with Garrett, he had alot of helpful advice. I was afraid that saying goodbye to the family would be hard, but the Lord has answered my prayers and has blessed me with the strength to say goodbye. I will see how well I do on Wednesday. As I write my parents are playing tennis, in an attempt to be better for next weeks tournament. I believe Banner will triumph again. I want to thank everyone again, for driving down to see me. I know that Tennyson enjoyed having everyone here for her birthday, and I was glad to see everyone before I go. thank you.

Before and After and Harry Potter

So I was informed that my room was to be sufficiently emptied before I left. SO here are some pics of the process. I had already started when I took theses pictures and I haven't finished yet so we will label these sort of before and kind of after. Sorry they are at a bad angle they don't look like that on my computer image program so I don't know how to fix it.

Happy 48th Birthday Dad

Battle of the BAD

I feel it's only fair that I post pics of myself and no one else. I might add I never take a bad picture of anyone, because I don't want bad one taken of me.

Life is Eternal

I wanted to post a segment of the talk I gave in Sacrament meeting today.

Two weeks ago I went to Salt Lake to the blessing of my cousins first child, Leah Jane. As I thought about her blessing in relation to my talk, I realized what unique experience I had witnessed. This blessing was the first step in her mortality as a daughter of God. Leah is fortunate. She was born to her parents who were sealed in the temple under the new and everlasting covenant. If her parents remain true to this agreement, Leah will be beneficiary to those covenants by being in a home filled mostly with peace, love, protection, and understanding. I hope Leah’s life as a faithful Latter-day Saint will move from a baby receiving a priesthood blessing to a child of God receiving baptismal covenants, to a woman entering into temple covenants, to serving a mission, to a wife being sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, and finally to an exalted daughter returning home to our Heavenly Father’s open arms. This is our Journey as saints.
What amazing things await us if our covenants remain unbroken.

"How blessed we are to be God’s covenant people. To the faithful Saint, the Lord has promised, "All that my Father hath shall be given unto him" (D&C 84:38). The greatness of that promise is hard for mortals to understand. The commandments he gives are for our benefit, and as we are faithful we may forever share the blessings and beauties of heaven and earth. We may live in his presence and partake of his love, compassion, power, greatness, knowledge, wisdom, glory, and dominions."
Our Covenants are an expression of our faith. Covenants should help us focus on the big picture and not just the immediate. As my friends and family members have served missions, I have seen covenants further the work of the Lord. Covenants help us make a difference in the lives of others. Covenants should make the choice of righteousness easier.
I bear my testimony that we can come unto Christ and be perfected in him by our worthy participation in the sacred ordinances appointed by God. I treasure the covenants my Heavenly Father has made with me and with all my heart hope to live faithful to them.

Quiz Winner

Shelley, you got it. Congratulations. Thanks for participating. I thought these questions would be really hard. Les said she missed a quiz so I listed some more questions and guess what les didn't answer them. Thanks Les. Have you noticed Tennyson's blog lately? Have a good Sunday. As Sara requested next weeks quiz will be easier. I may even do a kids quiz and and adult one. Watch for it.

P.S. Les Tenny would like me to remind you that she has pics of you wearing a wig.

Twilight

Okay, I took Leslies advice and I checked Twilight out at the library last night. I finished in the wee hours of the morning. I couldn't put it down. Why does this always happen to me. I make fun of a book and then end up loving it. Why? I can't wait to get to the library and check out the sequels. I can't explain my feelings about the book, but I do think I have a crush on Edward. Is that possible? Oh well. I have to check the quiz answers I will write soon. Les tell me what you think about the other two books.

I am writing this after reading the quiz results. Whats the big idea only Tennyson and Sara. Come on guys you can guess these movies. OH well here it goes.
1. The Gods Must Be Crazy 2. Talking to a baboon about her water can.
2.Back to The Future. Marty Mcfly and George McFly.
3. Lord of The Rings. The Fellowship of the Ring. Bilbo Baggins.
4. John Tucker Must Die. Kate
5. Pure Luck. Martin Shorts character.

Movie Quotes

Name the movie and if possible the character:

1. All right, you can have this one, but no more! Leave the can! Do you hear me?
you see these? Don't you dare. Don't even think about it. You'll be sorry.

2. Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain.

3. I know I don't look it, but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart. I feel... thin. Sort of stretched, like... butter scraped over too much bread. I need a holiday. A very long holiday. And I don't expect I shall return.

4.Hydrogen and Oxygen walk into a bar and see Gold... they say Au, get outta the bar!

5. If by some miracle you actually have what it takes to become one of us, then you get to live a life of meager pay with the distinct possibility of dying slow, cold and alone somewhere in the vast sea. However, you also get the chance to save lives, and there is no greater calling in the world than that. So, ladies and gentlemen, welcome. Welcome to A- school.

6.I am trained in martial arts. Judo, aikido, karate. The first thing they teach you is self-control. If someone calls you a jerk, you don't him them. You just walk away.
Jerk.
...Ah! See? Complete control.
Moron!

7. You don't wanna marry someone who's gonna get all wrinkled, lined and flabby!
Everyone gets wrinkled, lined and flabby!
By next week?

These are a very diverse mix of some of my favorite movies. Good Luck

Sound of Music Auditions

Sound of Music Auditions were held tonight at the High School. Tennyson and Banner both had to sing a solo for judges. Tennyson sang Homeward Bound and Banner sang Oh What A Beautiful Morning. They both did a good job.

Quiz Question for Wednesday the 23rd.

This quiz starts today at 10:30am and will end tomorrow at 8:30am. Please click the email link to send me your answer or guess.

1. Who said this? "We bear our souls and tell the most appalling secrets."
2. Who said this? " My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. That's a sentence I read once and I say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul."
3.Who said this? " I do not attempt to deny that I think very highly of him - that I greatly esteem him... I like him."

Do your best. If you can add the name of the movie with your answer. Hint: they are all different movies.

Pictures from last Christmas

Sister Becks Talk

I found this post on someone else blog, I have read some of her stuff and I like what she says. I agree with her comments and I want to know what you, my readers, think.

Having been extremely busy the past few days, I now have a stock pile of blog posts saved for slower days to come. I look forward to posting pictures accompanied by comments illustrating the visit we had from the police and firefighters last week. I have a light hearted post planned which spotlights a hideously tragic pair of 1987 shorts which my husband will not part with, even though all signs point to DESERET INDUSTRIES. Today though, I feel I need to document my gratitude for the Lord's counsel.
In case you haven't noticed, I am always considering my role as a mother, mostly because motherhood (for me) often feels complex. I know I am late to the game, and like Wendy, my thoughts are not an address to the offense many have taken to Sister Beck's talk. The purpose of this post is to publicly ( the public being my 5 readers and anyone else who happens to wander upon my blog) proclaim that I now know that I know.
My heart already knew, but sometimes my head was turned by talk of worthwhile activities which I am unable to participate in because of 2 small children and a breastfeeding baby. I've been tempted by voices which tell me to stop breastfeeding, 11 months is long enough. I've been tempted by those who have told me 3 children is more then enough, that I am old, and that my childbearing skills are lacking to begin with. I am tempted by all the 'good' things I could be doing with my time instead of caring for another newborn and devoting myself as a homemaker.
But I know, and now I've been reminded that I know. I don't know if I will regret not having the opportunity right now to read more books, run more miles, see a movie, go to parties, or go on vacations. I know for sure that I will regret not having one more child. I know that I will regret not rising to my full possible stature as a mother. Sister Beck's talk invigorated me. I felt her words were timely. I felt the Lord answering my questions through her. I will proudly wear the title homemaker. Is there anything more important that I could be doing right now?

Besides, I believe some of my homemaking 'fruits' to be beautiful works of wonder.

Tree

Can you say "cheese?" Banner getting into the Christmas spirit. Also, have you noticed my cluster map? I got a hit in Finland and Spain, thanks for visiting. I will try and post new pics as they become available. I got a ride home with Les last night, we spent all of today watching movies and getting Lizzies Christmas stuff upstairs. Maybe she won't be so reluctant to get started since we hauled the stuff around for her. I am currently watching "The Santa Clause" with Tennyson and Banner. I have to go to the Sheriffs office this week and get my letter of recommendation for my Visa. Hopefully I pass the test(after all I'm not a terrorist). I enjoyed the weekend in Salt Lake, and I don't think anyone got ill. We may have overeaten but, no flu bug was passed to me. Thanks everyone. See you in three weeks.

Trespassing

I find it rude and almost unforgivable when someone logs onto someonelses blog and messes with their stuff. The contents of a persons blog are personal thoughts and not for others to alter. In the future I hope people use greater caution when playing pranks.

Christmas Tree

We are putting up our Christmas deco today. Mom says we are doing it so that I can have my fill of Christmas things before I leave. I will post some pics later.

Highlights

"Here's the headline: UTAH DEFEATS BYU IN PROVO, AGAIN . . ."

Reasons The Utes will Win

1. Utah (8-3, 5-2 MWC) finishes regular season this Saturday against No. 23 BYU (8-2, 6-0 MWC) .
2. Utah has won seven straight games and eight of its last nine.
3. Quarterback Brian Johnson is 7-0 since returning to the starting lineup from an injury.
4. Utah is 1-0 against ranked teams this year, beating No. 11 UCLA 44-6. The Bruins beat the Cougars 27-17 on Sept. 8.
5. Utah is waitng to hear the location of its fifth-straight bowl game. Utah has won its past six postseason games dating back to 1999, which ranks as the second-longest current bowl win streak in the nation.
6. Third-year head coach Kyle Whittingham has tied his season win record of eight. Whittingham, has produced a winning record every year, had 8-5 last season after going 7-5 in 2005.
7. Utah leads the all-time series with BYU 52-32-4 (including a 3-3 record when BYU was known as BY Academy). Utah has won four of the last five, and the last two games in Provo.
8. Utah ranks No. 3 in the nation in pass efficiency defense (94.4), No. 5 in scoring defense (15.5) and No. 11 in pass defense (180.7). In addition, the Utes rank No. 6 nationally in opponent third down conversion percentage (28.8%) and are tied for No. 9 in sacks (35). The Utes lead the MWC in all of those categories.

Miranda is this an appropriate rebuttal.

The Holy War

My thoughts today on The Holy War. I am keeping to my goal of wearing red everyday. I have also been reading the stats on the teams. I think that it is going to be a close game, with both teams playing very well, but I pick the U.

Christmas List

I must admit this year is a little hard for me to put together a Christmas list. Sure I have things that I want, but can I take them with me, No.

Unrealistic:
A really nice digital camara with a 10x zoom
A trip to Europe
To be able to call my family on Christmas Day
To Know Spanish perfectly on my first day in the MTC

Realistic:
Portable Ipod speakers
Ipod wall charger
Luggage tags
For all of my family to come to my farewell.
Everyone to write a letter to me once in awhile.
Short sleeved shirts.
Pajamas and slippers
